The Celerity™ 20 STEAM Process Challenge Device (PCD) for dynamic air removal (LCB049/LCB053) and gravity (LCB050) cycles is a pre-assembled pack consisting of a clear plastic housing sealed with a laminate foil. The PCD design includes a small channel for air removal and steam penetration and offers equivalent performance to ANSI/AAMI 16-towel biological indicator test pack; same resistance as AAMI gold standard.

How the Celerity™ 20 STEAM Process Challenge Device Works

Each PCD contains a Celerity™ 20 STEAM Biological Indicator (BI) and an integrating indicator and is placed at the most challenging location of the sterilizer, typically on the bottom rack near the drain. After the cycle has completed, the clear plastic housing allows for immediate interpretation of the chemical indicator. Easy open foil backing allows for quick access to the BI, which is then incubated and automatically read within 20 minutes in a Celerity™ 20 STEAM Incubator.

Why the Celerity™ 20 STEAM Process Challenge Device?

  • Fast results and quick device turnaround with industry leading 20-minute incubation time
  • Minimal shelf space needed in sterilizer with compact sized pack
  • Immediate knowledge of sterilization results with visibility of integrating indicator through PCD
  • Easy electronic documentation of lot numbers and expiration dates with barcode
  • Reduce potential for injury and makes disposal easy with glass-free design
