Technology for early detection of lung diseases

Spirometry is essential for the diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory diseases.
According to the World Health Organization ( WHO ) around 235 million people suffer from symptoms associated with respiratory diseases. Many of them have not been officially diagnosed and almost 30 percent have probably been misdiagnosed.
Awareness and education are the first crucial steps in the early diagnosis of respiratory diseases. In this regard, spirometry is essential to the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, COPD and other lung conditions and helps detect changes in lung function before associated symptoms develop. This test is frequently performed to assess lung function using a spirometer, a device that measures the volume and flow of air into and out of the lungs during ventilation.
To prevent irreversible lung damage in millions of patients, NDD Medical Technologies developed its EasyOne product line. With these devices, healthcare personnel can provide an accurate and reliable diagnosis at the point of care and begin immediate treatment.
This technology significantly reduces healthcare costs and offers unique advantages: On the one hand, healthcare staff only need simple training to perform spirometry tests with full autonomy. On the other hand, it ensures patient’s safety. The earlier the patient is diagnosed, the sooner a treatment plan can be initiated and therefore the burden of lung disease can be reduced or even eliminated.
NDD has become the world’s leading innovator in pulmonary function testing (PFT) devices by supporting research, launching innovative products, and making them available in more than 100 countries, and we are proud to have them as partners. Having such an outstanding new ally, a global leader in spirometry devices, implies a great responsibility, so we want to thank NDD Medical Technologies for trusting us and, together, raise awareness of the importance of early detection of respiratory diseases.
Where can spirometry be performed?
While it used to be necessary to go to a specialized center to perform spirometry, thanks to NDD’s technology, pulmonary function tests can now be performed in healthcare facilities and private practices. Being able to perform these tests directly at the point of care generates considerable time savings and optimizes patient care.
The EasyOne Air portable spirometer, for instance, can be used as a stand-alone device in the doctor’s office or at the bedside if the patient is hospitalized. In this case, the device calculates the results, displays and stores them directly. But it is also possible to integrate it with software that will grant access to a greater number of functionalities. The Easy on-PC spirometer is a PC-driven device that works in conjunction with the computer to provide a comprehensive spirometry solution. Both devices feature TrueFlow™ technology that eliminates the problems associated with traditional methods, such as turbines or pneumotachometers for flow measurement, and do not require calibration over their lifetime.
Although ideally a professional specializing in pulmonary function should be involved, today’s PFT equipment is intuitive and easy to use, and virtually any member of the healthcare staff can be trained to perform basic operations.
NDD Medical Technologies has been working for more than 20 years to improve the early detection and accurate diagnosis of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other chronic lung diseases. Building a safe environment for making timely and well-informed treatment decisions is the basis for ensuring patient safety and ease of use for the practitioner.
Lungs are a vital part of the respiratory system; healthy lungs help the body oxygenate and remove residual gas. Therefore, EasyOne spirometry solutions are essential for early respiratory diagnosis.
